CAN I BOOK A COTTAGE JUST FOR A WEEKEND?

During the high season in June-August and at Christmas and New Year, our cottages can only be reserved for a full week (7 nights). In other times, the minimum length of stay in a cottage is 1 night. The autumn is the most affordable time for leisure cottage rental.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS ARE AVAILABLE?

In our online store, you can select your preferred payment method when making a reservation. We also charge any reservations made by phone in advance, to facilitate an effortless and secure check-in. If invoicing is not applicable due to e.g. timetable reasons, the accommodation must be paid at the latest when checking in either in cash or with any of the most common payment cards (Mastercard, Visa, Visa Electron, Maestro).

WHERE DO I GET THE KEY FOR THE COTTAGE?

You can get the key at our reception, address Jokiniementie 62, 71910 Alapitkä. From the reception there is only a short distance to the cottage. Please notify us of your arrival time in advance by SMS to the number +358 400 811 266 or by e-mail to the address info@jokiniemenmatkailu.fi

WHAT IF I BECOME ILL AND HAVE TO CANCEL MY RESERVATION? WHAT IF THERE IS SOME OTHER OBSTACLE PREVENTING ME FROM COMING? WILL I BE REFUNDED OR COMPENSATED?

Holiday programmes may change for one reason or another. For such circumstances, our TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF DELIVERY apply. Read them through carefully when making a reservation. Furthermore, we recommend you ensure that you have a valid travel insurance policy in place.

IF I HAVE TO INTERRUPT MY HOLIDAY, WILL I BE COMPENSATED IN ANY WAY?

No payments will be refunded, if you terminate your reservation prematurely. If such interruption is due to illness, you should consult your travel insurance provider for any compensation.

WHAT HOUSEHOLD ITEMS SHOULD I BRING ALONG TO THE COTTAGE?

The cottages are equipped with basic cookware and tableware that are available for use. The electricity and firewood are also included in the rental price. If you want to grill food, bring your own charcoal with you. Also bring along things for daily use such as toilet paper and paper towels, any spices and condiments.

CAN A LARGER NUMBER OF PEOPLE STAY AT A COTTAGE THAN THAT DESIGNATED IN THE COTTAGE DESCRIPTION?

No, this is not allowed. The maximum number of people that can use a particular cottage may not exceed the number of beds designated in the cottage’s description or what has been agreed upon when making the reservation. Children are also considered when counting the number of people.

CAN I HAUL A CARAVAN TO THE COTTAGE I’VE BOOKED? CAN I SET UP A TENT THERE?

No, this is not allowed.

CAN I BRING A PET WITH ME TO THE ACCOMMODATION?

Yes, you may bring a well-behaving pet with you to any of our cottages and to some of the rooms in the Haavi building, too. The extra charge extra for your furry friends is 20,00 €/pet/stay. You can pick the Pet-product to Your chart when booking a cottage. However, if you a booking a room in Haavi building, always check first the availability of petrooms.

However, before leaving the cottage, please see to it that the furniture is free of pet hair and clean away any pet droppings in the vicinity of the cottage. Here’s a tip: cover up any upholstery on chairs and sofas on arrival, to avoid damage to the fabrics and facilitate removal of loose hair.

Please note that pets are not allowed in the rooms of the Haavi building.

ARE THE COTTAGES EQUIPPED WITH A GRILL?

Each of the cottages is equipped with a portable stand-up charcoal grill. Bring your own charcoal and lighting fluid with you. Once you’re finished barbecuing, clean up the grill for the next chef. Please note that the grills may not be available for use at the cottages in wintertime.

In the vicinity of the Haavi building there is a BBQ hut-type campfire facility where you can cook sausages, for example. The firewood there is complimentary.

IS THE TAP WATER POTABLE?

Jokiniemen Matkailu is connected to the municipal water system, and our tap water is good for drinking.

IS THE SAUNA AT THE COTTAGE FITTED WITH A WOOD-BURNING OR ELECTRIC STOVE?

In most of our cottages, the sauna stove is wood-burning, but the Koukku cottage has an electric sauna stove. However, in summertime, at the Koukku cottage there is also a wood-heated sauna available by the shore, in addition to the electric sauna within the cottage.

The Haavi building has an electric sauna under its roof. When reserving a room at Haavi in our online store, you can also book a private sauna session at the electric sauna for an additional fee.

IS THERE A JETTY AND A BOAT AVAILABLE AT THE COTTAGE?

Every one of our cottages has a designated rowing boat and life jackets available. The Koukku, Ankkuri and Merta cottages have their own jetty on the shore.

AT WHAT TIME CAN WE COME TO THE COTTAGE?

The earliest time for entering your reserved accommodation is 4.00 pm.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN MY STAY ENDS? WILL I DO THE FINAL CLEAN-UP MYSELF?

Just relax and enjoy your stay until check-out and leave the final clean-up to us. The after stay cleaning is included in the announced total price.

However, please observe the following before leaving:
– Wash the dishes and replace them to where they were, and remember to clean up the grill!
– Take out the waste to the waste collection point. You can collect any empty refundable bottles and cans in plastic bags and leave them in one place.
– Put the furniture back to where it was.
– Empty any ashes from the fireplace and sauna oven firebox as well as their ash boxes and from the grill and put them in the metal bucket provided for this purpose. To avoid the risk of fire, do not put the ashes of that day or the previous day into a paper or plastic bag or any other flammable object or throw them in the woods in summertime!
– Take with you any food items you brought or put them in the waste bin.
– If you travel with a pet, remove pet hair from the furniture and any droppings from the vicinity of the cottage.

HOW LATE CAN I STAY IN THE ACCOMMODATION ON THE DEPARTURE DATE?

The keys must be handed back by 12 noon. Please leave the keys at the reception.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHARGE AN ELECTRIC CAR?

Unfortunately, Jokiniemi does not yet have an electric car charging facility. Charging an electric car from the outdoor or heating sockets of the cabins is not allowed for safety reasons.

IF SOME PROBLEM OCCURS AT THE COTTAGE, WHO DO I CONTACT?

Don’t let your stay be ruined by some issue with the cottage that we can rectify in no time. So please immediately contact the proprietor 24/7. You’ll often find us at or near the reception, but to be sure, please call us first at +358 400 811 266.
